A Guy’s Guide to Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is next week and it is the one holiday when all of the pressure is on the guy. Every girl wants to feel pampered like this photo and we at O.C.D. Events know that this pressure can sometimes be too much to handle. We have compiled a list of ideas to help you (the guy) breeze through this Valentine’s Day with flying colors. We have even taken a few tips from our very own Justin Klosky.
Before deciding on what you should or shouldn’t do, know how deep your relationship is. How long have you been dating your Valentine? How serious are you? This will help you from either scaring away the girl you have taken on a few dates vs making your girlfriend of a year cry crocodile tears to her friends the next day.
At the very least you should send flowers on Valentine’s Day (chocolates are a plus but not necessary). If your girl is more of a healthy chic then send a fruit bouquet with a few pieces dipped in chocolate. This year… send 13 roses instead of 12. In the message write something to the fact that “she is always one above the rest in your book”. Another option is to send her a few flowers every hour and then she will have a full Valentine’s bouquet by the end of the day. This could get expensive with delivery so if you have a friend that is free during the day ask them to help you out with promises of happy hour after.
If you choose to also get your Valentine a gift, jewelry is always nice but nothing cheesy. This is a holiday when the little things really count. The O.C.D. Events team are huge fans of framed photos. A very sentimental and thoughtful gift is to give her a framed photo of you together. She will love it because you choose the picture and took the time to frame it. It’s the little things, trust us!
Regarding a big Valentine’s dinner out… DON’T! It is a huge waste of money. Try making a meal together. Look up fun and new recipes that aren’t too out of the box, you still want to be able to eat it in the end. Or you can order take-out from her favorite restaurant and eat it at home on the nicest plates you have. Light a few candles, maybe a few rose petals and you are set! If you haven’t been dating too long try a public activity. Miniature golf and bowling are always fun or a sunset picnic.
If you have been with your Valentine for awhile then massages are a great idea. You can trade off and use oils, lotions, chocolates…. you get the idea.
If you are just getting to know your Valentine, set up a make-your-own sundae shop at home. Buy a few different flavors of ice cream, fruits, syrups, candies and whipped cream. This will be super fun and you will get to indulge also! Eat your sundaes while watching a lovie movie or playing a game.
We hope these ideas help the O.C.D. following guys with your Valentine’s Day plans. Let us know what you end up doing and how it turns out.
Thank you to weheartit.com for all of the photos.
Warmly,
Heather
