At O.C.D. Events we are focused on creating an experience for our clients and their guests.

In order to get a full experience you need to engage as many of the five senses as possible. One sense that is often overlooked is smell. With just a few scented candles you can change the entire atmosphere of your event. You don’t want the scent of the candle to be too overpowering so just purchase enough candles to have one every fifteen feet or more.

When planning your event close your eyes and think of the overall theme and feel of the party. Imagine how the room looks, how the different textures feel, how the food tastes and then think of how it smells. Write down your thoughts and descriptions, then look for a candle that matches what you have written down. There are so many candles nowadays that you can get almost any scent you can imagine. Here are a few that we recommend.

If you are having an event that is either beach themed or near the water try the Montauk Candle by Tocca. This candle takes you to the salty sea air and sandy shores. Your guests will feel like they are off for a summertime jaunt.

The Dayna Decker Sandalrose candle is the perfect scent for a chic dinner party. Whether it is a birthday, shower or “just-because” party, the rose, sandalwood and vanilla in this candle will create an instantly warm and elegant environment.

My personal favorite is the Japonica Gogi and Tarocco Orange by Voluspa. The scent is fruity and energizing while still creating a lovely atmosphere. This candle is best for a wedding where guests can be engaged in brilliant conversation and then tear up the dance floor.

If you are planning a bridal shower try the Jo Malone Grapefruit scented candle. The grapefruit is also mixed with tangerine and rosemary, which creates a very crisp and refreshing smell. This candle is also great for baby showers but make sure with the mommy-to-be that the smell will not make her nauseous.

And finally is the Archipelago Botanicals Peony candle. This is a soy based candle is as absolutely perfect for outdoor parties and events. The subtle flowery scent will enhance the natural outdoor environment to become more luxurious. Place these candles between arrangements for a fresh garden aroma.
